Happy New Year to All. Can't believe 2010 is here!

Hold on to your hats, people. I actually made 5 quilts from Nov. to Jan. 5, finishing the last quilt in Jan. for my husband. Our daughter, son-in-law, son, and daughter-in-law were really surprised. I had promised my daughter a t-shirt quilt for the last 8 or so years. I know she had probably given up on me actually producing a quilt from all those t-shirts.

I had a great time at Dot Collins Workshop held by the Wildflower Quilt Guild in Temple, TX Wed., Jan. 20. Dot showed us how to do machine quilted feathers. Those of you who know me are probably shocked that I took a quilting class. I have had many quilting classes--just prefer to use these techniques in wearable art or art quilts. Dot made these feathers look sooo easy. Well, maybe after a few hundred hours, I'll get the hang of it and create somthing I won't mind showing off. Feb. 17, "Piping Hot Curves-Macaroni." I may start quilting more. :-)

I won 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in the Wearable Art Catagory at the Wildflower Quilt Guild's Quilt Show in Temple, July 10 & 11. Sounds impressive, huh? I was the only entrant in that catagory. :-) I know that my students have some very beautiful garments that could have been entered. I would like to encourage my students and others who do wearable art to please enter these quilt shows.

Finally finished the wall hanging I started in Rosemary Eichorn's March, 2009 class at Quilting Adventures. Had a lot of fun with LOTS of embellishing techniques. I have added these techniques to my own embellishing classes. What fun! Click on picture for enlarged view.

Fabric Collage Jacket

This jacket was created by one of my students as a gift. This is Betty's second jacket, "All About Music."

I just finished a most wonderful class with Rosemary Eichorn at Quilting Adventures in New Braunfels. What a fantastic week! She is sooo talented and I learned a LOT! These new techniques will be shared in my new embellishment classes. I promise you all will love them as much as I do. As soon as I complete my wall
hanging I started in Rosemary's class, I will post it. If you ever get a chance to take a class
from Rosemary, please don't hesitate. Between Karin Boutte and Rosemary and another good friend of mine, which I will not name, they have set me on a wonderful journey of discovery.
If you take one of my classes, I'm sure you will hear the "nameless" friend's name mentioned. She is very talented and way too modest.

Circle Mania Jacket

This Fabric Collage Sweatshirt Foundation Jacket Class parts 1 & 2 are coming Oct. 1 (Wednesday) and Oct. 22 (Wed.) to Poppy Quilt'N Sew . The Class will also be held at A Sewing Basket in Salado Oct. 18 (Fri.) and Nov. 15 (Sat.).

For the convenience of my students, there will be a Fabric Collage Jacket Finishing Class at A Sewing Basket Saturday, December 6, should you need some extra help finishing your jacket.

Designer Collection Fabric Collage Jackets

These Designer's Collection jackets have a sweatshirt foundation and use fabric collage techniques. This is a wonderful class to unleash your inner creative spirit. It is also a great class if you would like to learn or have more practice using free motion.
